Laterite
Laterite is a natural resource in Astroneer. It is generated on every planet in the form of reddish-blue cylindrical crystalline deposits. It is used not only for smelting into aluminum but also for unlocking EXO Dynamics Research Aids on the planet Sylva.
Like all resources, Laterite has a Tier 1 attachment slot.

- How to obtain laterite in Astroneer?
You can obtain laterite on any planet by using the Terrain Tool (referred to as the “vacuum” tool). Simply aim it at the laterite deposits and excavate them. When you accumulate enough clusters, the resource “Laterite” will appear in your inventory.
Interesting facts
- If you place laterite in the research chamber in Astroneer and fully analyze it, you will receive 75 bytes. The research speed is 30 bytes per minute.
