To do this, you need to install a Chemical Lab and place Quartz, Resin, and Methane in the crafting slots. Once the silicon is ready, it will appear in the Chemical Lab. Researching silicon in the Research Chamber will yield 600 bytes.

Silicon is used to activate the Novus core.
